High tea, toad-in-the-hole, spotted dick, bubble and squeak, hotpot... the name's are confusing enough let alone working up the courage to eat them! But dining in England is not as scary as you think....

We both love and hate the "tube". Its breakdowns, expense, closures and strikes can make it a headache. And yet it is still the easiest way to get around....

FOCUS ON

The food in England is not always aquainted with the world's best. But the English can imaginative as these details will show you! Here are some of the odder elements on the menu:
Pease Pudding and Mushy Peas - large marrowfat peas are cooked in water until they become mushy. It is used as a kind of vegetable and sauce combined and often served amongst fish and chips.
Whitebait - a minnow-sized fish eaten whole i.e heads, innards and all, dusted in flour and deep fried.
Jellied eels - this Cockney food is often served with pies. The eel cooking liquid is served over pies and potatoes as a gravy.
